Sentinum
ARCHAEOLOGICAL PARK SOUTH OF SASSOFERRATO IN S. LUCIA
The Sentinum Park is considered one of the most significant archaeological sites in the Marche region. It is situated on the southern outskirts of Sassoferrato and comprises two areas: Santa Lucia and Civita. These two localities are separated by a provincial road leading to Fabriano and are connected by a footbridge that leads to a large parking lot.
At the Sentinum Park, visitors can observe the remnants of the ancient Roman city such as the cardine massimo and decumanus maximus, the remains of a public bathhouse, walls, mosaic floors, granite columns, foundations, traces of pavements, sewers, a tetrastyle temple from the Augustan period, and other buildings in the urban center. It is considered one of the most significant archaeological sites in the Marche region.
In the area, there is also the Santa Lucia complex, which was built using the same materials from Sentinum and is intended for the reception of tourists.
